About Hallym University
Hallym University, based in the Republic of Korea, was established in 1982, and is one of a handful of universities that receive financial support from the Ministry of Education.
A variety of core departments are based at the university, which include: Humanities, Social Sciences, Business, Medicine, and Information and Electronic Engineering.
The university has many accolades to its name and is well regarded among higher education institutions in Korea.
The university has, on multiple occasions, acquired the status of "distinguished university," which is a title granted by the Ministry of Education, and enables it to be selected for funding by the Brain Korea 21 Project.
Hallym University has developed relationships with 202 universities in some 41 countries in an effort to boost research exchanges for professors, as well as to broaden student experiences and open up more to international students.
The University also co-hosts annual international seminars and conventions in collaboration with universities abroad.
The Department of Social Welfare co-hosts periodical seminars with its counterpart department in the State University of New York at Albany, while the Department of Sociology leads an annual joint field survey with the International Christian University in Japan, in which both professors and students play an active role.
There are two campus festivals held by the university: the Flying Phoenix Festival and the "All-Together Festival" which are held in May and October. Student clubs display a wide range of interests and competitions.
Hallym University offers all kinds of sporting activities, including the use of a tennis courts, a fitness centre, golf-practice range, traditional Korean wrestling ring, as well as the mountains and lakes which surround the Chuncheon area and offer excellent opportunities for rock climbing, skiing, fishing, canoeing, and water skiing.
