About Golestan University of Medical Sciences
Golestan University of Medical Sciences was established in 1967. The university specialised in nursing until 1992 when the Gorgan School of Medicine was founded.
The university is located in Gorgan, the capital of Golestan Province, Iran.
Academically, the university is organised into six schools: medicine, nursing and midwifery, allied medical sciences, public health, advanced technologies in medicine, dentistry. Each school offers a range of both undergraduate and graduate degree programmes. There are also short-term training programmes and medical elective programmes available for students to study.
The university has 13 health care centres located in 13 Golestan cities.
In 2013 the university’s international campus was established to welcome students from other higher education institutions from around the world. The university has developed partnerships with international institutions to facilitate academic and scientific exchanges.
The university is home to 22 research centres, which facilitate medical and scientific research projects throughout the year. The Ministry of Health and Medical Education fully approved the Golestan Research Centre for Gastroenterology and Hepatology and the Infectious Diseases Research Centre.
