About Fukuoka University
Fukuoka University is a private research university which was founded in 1934. Today the university is one of the largest private universities in western Japan.
As its name suggests, the university is located in Fukuoka, a city on the northern shore of Japan’s Kyushu Island.
The university has two campuses, one in Nanakuma and one in Kitakyushu. It is also home to the Fukuoka University Hospital, which is one of the best in the country.
The university is organised into nine faculties: humanities, law, economics, commerce, science, engineering, medicine, pharmaceutical chemistry, and sports science. Within each faculty are a number of departments offering a range of both undergraduate and graduate degree programmes.
Every year the university welcomes increasing numbers of international students from across the globe. It has developed partnerships with higher education institutions in countries including France, Belgium, Finland, Taiwan, China, Malaysia and Vietnam to facilitate its student exchange programme.
There is the School for Japanese Language and Culture, which provides international students with the Japanese language knowledge and skills they need to develop their studies in Japan.
