About Fukui Prefectural University
Fukui Prefectural University is a public university in the city of Eiheji in Japan.
Established in 1992, it has undergraduate faculties in economics, biotechnology, marine bioscience, and nursing and social welfare sciences.
There are graduate programmes in economics and business administration, bioscience and biotechnology, and nursing and social welfare.
The Eiheji Campus is located in one of the main academic-research areas in Fukui Prefecture, along with the Fukui Industrial Support Centre, the Fukui Food Processing Research Institute, and the Fukui Prefectural General Green Centre.
The Obama Campus looks out over the Japan Sea and is situated closed to the Five Lakes of Mikata, registered wetlands under the Ramsar Convention.
The Research Institute for Regional Economics includes a Regional Economy Section that investigates into regional issues as a policy proposal think-tank, and an Asian Economy Section that provides support to companies in Fukui Prefecture aiming at advancing into overseas Asian markets.
The Dinosaur Research Institute was established in 2013 as the first academic Japanese institute of dinosaur studies.
The university has formed partnerships with ten universities in different countries, including China, Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Mongolia and Peru. It sends and accepts exchange students and conducts friendship exchanges and research exchanges among teachers. There are a mixture of long- and short-term overseas study programmes.
For short-term study programmes, students can choose from three language programme areas: English, Chinese and Korean.
