About Free University of Bozen-Bolzano
The Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, founded in 1997, is a university primarily located in Bolzano, Italy.
The university has three campuses at Bolzano, Brixen and Bruneck. The university buildings in Brixen – designed by Regina Kohlmeyer and Jens Oberst – won the 9th architecture prize of the city of Oderzo in 2005.
Multilingualism characterises the university with lectures and seminars held in German, Italian and English. The Free University of Bozen-Bolzano aims to offer students a multilingual and practice-oriented education that meets the demands of the European professional market.
The university is made up of five faculties including economics, the natural sciences, technology, computer science, design and the social and educational worlds.
The different faculties organise special events for students, researchers and companies all year round for its students and visitors.
The Free University of Bozen-Bolzano endorses research, and is especially committed to promoting young researchers.
Emphasis is put on providing practical training and so a large proportion of education takes places in the form of seminars, lectures given by guest speaks, practical training and a variety of workshops.
The university library highly respected across all German-speaking states, which includes Germany, Switzerland, Austria and South Tyrol in Italy.
Students are actively encouraged to spend one or more semesters at universities abroad within the framework of their exchange programme.
The AlumniClub was founded in 2007 with a purpose to support graduates of the university and helps them maintain strong links with the university upon graduation; whether regional, national or international. Past students continue benefiting from services offered by the university.
