The European University of Armenia was established in 2001. It was previously known as the European Educational Regional Academy.

The university is located in Yerevan, the capital and largest city of Armenia. It lies along the Hrazdan River.

There are five other branches of the university situated in the cities of Gyumri, Vanadzor, Ijevan, Gavar, and Kapan.

The university offers a range of both undergraduate and graduate degree programmes in the fields of management, finances, economics, information technology, informatics, information systems, information security, law, international relations, linguistics (translation study), professional pedagogy (English language and literature), psychology, graphic design, service (tourism), and culturology (tourism).

In 2018 the university joined the European Association of Institutions in Higher Education.
