About Chaoyang University of Technology

In 1994, Chaoyang University of Technology (CYUT) was founded by Dr Tien-Sheng Yang in memory of his parents. From the university’s establishment, the motto “diligence, character and action” has aimed to foster the students’ core abilities as well as to cultivate their pride, respectability, politeness, harmony and devotion.

CYUT also aims to be up-to-date with industry trends in terms of expertise, technological application, communication, as well as autonomy, so that students are equipped with the skills to become the professionals needed by industry.

CYUT is located in the Wufeng Township, in Taichung City, Taiwan. Three years later after its conception, in 1997, it was renamed the Chaoyang University of Technology (CYUT) and became Taiwan’s first private technology university.

The university comprises six colleges: the college of management, the college of science and engineering, the college of design, the college of humanities and social sciences, the college of informatics and the college of aviation. Students can choose from five doctoral programmes, 23 master’s programmes and 24 different departments.

On-campus facilities include a preschool, the Poding Memorial Library, student dormitories and an athletics building, with a 400-metre athletics field, plus basketball, tennis and volleyball courts.

Taichung City is in central Western Taiwan and became a major economic and cultural centre during Japanese rile. The Port of Taichung is the second-largest in Taiwan, and the Taichung International Airport flies internationally and domestically. There are many cultural sites in Taichung City, including the National Museum of Natural Science, the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, the historical Taichung Park, the Lin Family Gardens and several temples.
