About Southern Technical University
Southern Technical University was founded in 2014 by the Iraq Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The university’s main campus is located in the port city of Basra, southeastern Iraq.
The university consists of 12 technical colleges and institutes: Basrah Technical Institute, Basrah Engineering Technical College, Basrah Management Technical College, Basrah Health Technical College, Thiqar Technical College, Umarah Technical Institute, Shatra Technical Institute, Qurna Technical Institute, Nasriya Technical Institute, Misan Technical College, Al-Shatra Technical College, and Higher Education College. There are more than 30 undergraduate degree programmes available within these colleges and institutes.
There is also the College of Graduate Studies which offers a number of postgraduate programmes for students seeking to continue their studies.
The university’s Continuing Education Centre provides students with the opportunity to develop their scientific research skills, experience entrepreneurship and refine their academic development.
Outside the classroom there are a range of activities on offer from sports to art, and scientific to cultural.
