About University of Information Technology and Communications
The University of Information Technology and Communications in Baghdad, Iraq, was founded in 2014 and was the first specialised university in information technology and communications in Iraq.
It currently has three colleges: business informatics, engineering and medical informatics.
The Business Informatics College signed a scientific cooperation memorandum with The Ministry of Technology Science, and students have participated in competitions including Google’s Hash Code.
University faculty also have links to British higher education institution, the University of Essex. Faculty have participated in the Computer Science and Electronic Engineering Conference in 2019, leading them to publish extensive research.
The school of engineering offer opportunities to participate in the skills development in electronics course in India. The university has received appreciation certifications from both the University of Essex and Elsevier Journal.
To offer students the highest level of accessibility, the university has a virtual library in which to access resources. Both business informatics and engineering are offered through e-learning, allowing students to access resources online.
Baghdad offers students an abundance of cultural and historical sites, especially architectural, sharing an insight into the country’s past and heritage. For example there is the the National Archaeology Museum and the Iraqi Museum, which contains artifacts and information from the Mesopotamian, Babylonian and Persian civilisations. The Ctesiphon ruins in the ancient Persian capital are a display of Iraq’s ancient history, just 35 miles outside of Baghdad itself. Baghdad also has a multitude of religious sites which students can visit to develop their cultural skills and awareness. The Al-Kadhimiya Mosque contains the burials of famous historical scholars.
