About Edgewood College

Edgewood College is a Christian institution in the Dominican Catholic tradition. This branch of the faith places high value on seeking the truth, reflection and discussion.

The college was founded in 1927 as Edgewood Junior College, located in the building of what had previously been a boarding school for girls. It gained accreditation in 1942 from the University of Wisconsin.

As a liberal arts college, Edgewood teaches general knowledge and thinking skills. It offers 60 majors and 40 minors. The most popular major is nursing, with almost a quarter of undergraduate students. Other popular subjects include business, psychology, biology, communication studies and elementary education.

Nursing students can take part in placements with Edgewood College’s 60 medical partners in and around Dane County, including the American Family Children’s Hospital and the Veteran’s Administration Hospital. The college’s Center for Healthcare Simulation and Education provides the opportunity to practice techniques on high-tech mannequins.

Edgewood College is situated on the shore of Lake Winga in Madison, Wisconsin. With four higher education institutions, Madison is a bustling student town with around 50,000 student residents in total. They make the most of the city’s vibrant music scene, which sees dozens of festivals throughout the year.
