About Nebraska Wesleyan University
Nebraska Wesleyan University describes itself as the number one liberal arts college in the State of Nebraska. It is a private, coeducational university established by Nebraska Methodists in 1887. The first class of four women graduated in 1890; the next year’s graduating class was four men.
There are over 100 programmes for undergraduates, including majors, minors and pre-professional courses. A broad range of arts, sciences and humanities is on offer, from theatre to nursing. The university’s liberal arts curriculum allows students to explore subjects outside their major, whether they are a biology student who wants to explore pottery or a philosophy student who wants a foundation in business.
All students take part in a learning experience, whether through interning, work experience, research or study abroad. The office of Global Engagement organises travel from one week up to an entire year. The University has four exchange partners in England, Estonia, Japan and Mexico.
The university has over 40 active student organisations. They range from faith organisations like Campus Crusade for Christ to interest groups like Pride Alliance and creative talents such as the University Choir.
A voluntary bike checkout programme is run through the university’s recreation centre. The rec centre also has a cardiovascular fitness room, three racquetball courts, a circuit training room, aerobics room and free weight room.
Nebraska Wesleyan’s main campus is located in Lincoln, Nebraska, in the historic University Place neighbourhood. There are ample internship and job opportunities in Lincoln, as well as shopping districts, restaurants, parks and bars for students to enjoy on weekends.
