About Transylvania University
Transylvania University is a prestigious private liberal arts college in Lexington, Kentucky, US, founded in 1780. It is one of the oldest universities in the US.
There are 40 majors students can choose from including accounting, anthropology, studio art, biology, business administration, chemistry, computer science, economics, English, exercise science, history, international affairs, mathematics, neuroscience, philosophy, physics, PPE, psychology, sociology, theatre, writing, rhetoric and communication, pre-engineering, pre-medical studies, pre-dental, pre-physical therapy and pre-veterinary medicine. Among the most popular majors are pre-health and pre-professional programmes.
Students also have significant exposure to a wide range of subjects before choosing their major.
Students can also choose to compete in sports such as basketball, baseball, cheerleading, cross country, dance, eventing, golf, lacrosse, soccer, swimming and diving, tennis, track and field, field hockey and volleyball. In addition, there are over 50 student clubs and organisations you can join.
95 per cent of students continue their studies or find employment within 6 months of graduation.
Transylvania University’s most famous alumni include two US vice presidents, two US Supreme Court justices, 50 US senators. Mayor of Chicago Levi Boone, Chief US District Judge for the US District Court for East Kentucky Karen K. Caldwell and James Speed, Attorney General under Abraham Lincoln.
