After talks between the institution and the University and College Union, an agreement has been reached that restructuring will not lead to compulsory redundancies.
Surrey announced in March that up to 75 jobs were at risk across a variety of departments after an operational review.
UCU members had voted in favour of strike action in April, but the university has now agreed to extend a voluntary redundancy scheme and secure some posts that were previously at risk.
The university had been criticised over plans to cut the number of academic jobs in the politics department as part of the restructure despite its high ranking in the 2014 National Student Survey.
But the UCU has now declared the dispute is over. Michael Moran, regional UCU official, said: “This is a very good outcome to the dispute for everyone.”
He added: “Strike action is always a last resort and we are delighted that we have managed to reach a settlement without the need for any disruption. We would particularly like to thank all the students that supported us during this dispute.”
