As the only person in my university who seems not to have changed his German spelling, I am heartened by Frankfurter Allgemeine and Deutscher Hochschulverband support ("Germans say no to simplified spelling", THES, August 11). But an uneasy question remains: if so many are convinced the spelling reform is wrong, why on earth did they go along with it?
