Simple begging

Researchers looking for money from the Medical Research Council must now include plans for explaining their work to lay people in their applications for grants. Researchers will also be able to apply for small grants - up to Pounds 500 per grant-holder - for public understanding activities. But these will come out of the pool of research money.
