I APPLAUD your article on Lola Young and her achievements (THES, June 5). However these do not include being the first black woman professor in a British university. That distinction is held by Mel Chevanne, professor of nursing at De Montfort University. Elizabeth Anionwu was a later appointment as (black) professor and dean of nursing studies at Thames Valley University.
