As a former colleague of Suzi Clark's and a former governor of Middlesex University, it was with great sadness that I read of her dismissal.
I was very surprised at Michael Driscoll accusing Ms Clark of colluding to attack the university as that cannot be the Suzi Clark I know. Were there two Suzi Clark's acting simultaneously as editors of North Circular? The Suzi Clark I know was one of the most loyal staff members I encountered in my seven years at the university. Her strong sense of personal integrity would in no way allow her to do anything detrimental to the image of the institution.
Although I feel very sorry for Ms Clark, who is a widow with three children, it is with Middlesex University where most of my sympathy lies.
A woman of Ms Clark's talent will not have any problem finding future employment, but Middlesex will find it very difficult to replace such a hardworking, resourceful and true-hearted employee.
