Vera Rich (THES, August 21) "informs" us that "Kosovo was cut off from Albania in the Communist era ..." This is grossly incorrect and insulting both to Serbs today and their forefathers who fought there in 1389 against the Ottoman Turks.
For the record, Kosovo, a part where the Serbian nation was born, was never a part of Albania. It was in fact during the Communist times that the number of ethnic Albanians mushroomed due to the liberties they enjoyed in that region.
This is why today 90 per cent of Kosovo's population is made up of ethnic Albanians. At the beginning of the century and earlier, however, this number was in favour of Serbian people.
It is hurtful to read one's history interpreted as mythology. Please do not change historical facts in front of those who care more about the truth than current political correctness.
