We need to add a sense of proportion missing from your report on languages at the University of Huddersfield ("Huddersfield silences modern languages", THES, December 11).
The three programmes to which we decided to close recruitment together admitted seven students this year.
On another day your article might have questioned the academic and financial wisdom of keeping open such small programmes. You would have been right to have done so.
