I'm puzzled by one feature of your league tables (THES, April 23). You have Cambridge and Oxford well down on the list on expenditure on facilities, but seem not to have noticed that they are collegiate universities and that most spending on facilities comes from the colleges. Since students are admitted by the colleges, live, eat and are taught in the colleges, is it not a bit misleading to omit their expenditure? It is not as though data is unavailable. Colleges have published accounts since the early 1920s.
