The article on women professors in our universities made depressing reading. Furthermore, the figures you provided for Portsmouth are inaccurate. At Portsmouth we do not have five female professors but rather 2.5. As we have 49 professors, the proportion who are women is about 5 per cent, and not the 7 per cent listed in your table.
These figures put Portsmouth among the bottom six universities - Heriot-Watt, University College of North Wales at Bangor, Salford, Plymouth, Bradford and University of Wales College of Medicine - in this respect.
