Disability, dishonesty and maths

I am amazed at Frank Furedi's allegation that a learning support tutor in a university with a "respectable" sociology department can intervene in the awarding of examination marks. This practice is certainly not universal.

At the University of the West of England examiners are not formally told which students are dyslexic and non-examiners have no influence at exam boards.

Has any investigation of universities' policies on dyslexia been undertaken? It would be useful to have something more systematic than anecdotes provided by anonymous colleagues at unidentified institutions.
