AS the woman leader of the "Gentlemen's club" you criticise (Leader, THES, July 24), I hesitate to ascribe perversity, but are you not a little ungenerous about the Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Principals' campaigning success?
Yes, the money announced so far is only for one year, but there is no reason to doubt that we will share the rising resource curve over three years, which, after years of grinding cuts will be a relief.
Education secretary David Blunkett felt dispirited by your negative response to comprehensive spending review proposals for investment in higher education. I share his sentiment. Further pressure needs to be maintained. Negotiations will be hard but we are all up to the challenge, and can mobilise a wealth of talent within the CVCP, the sector and the professional office which serves CVCP.
