关于 Kettering University
Founded in 1919 and originally named The School of Automobile Trades, Kettering University is perhaps best-known as General Motors Institute and was used for decades to produce engineers and managers for one of the world’s most successful vehicle manufacturers.
It became known as the Kettering University in 1998 in recognition of the institution’s founder, industrialist Charles Kettering.
Today this private, experiential learning-based university is home to around 2,000 students and offers degrees at both undergraduate and graduate level, primarily in science, mathematics, engineering, technology and business studies.
Kettering University’s 90-acre campus is located along the Flint River in Michigan and is centred on the Great Court, a focal point of the campus which houses several facilities as well as the Walls of Fame, filled with renowned formed graduates. Students reside in Thomas Hall, a 400-room accommodation complex filled with a great range of facilities.
The university took ownership of the 11,000-seat Atwood Stadium in 2013, which since it’s opening in 1929 has hosted some incredibly memorable events such as appearances by The Who and former president John F. Kennedy. The stadium now hosts a lot of the Kettering University sporting events while also being opened to the public a variety of different events.
FIRST Robotics is another Kettering University highlight, and the FIRST Robotics Competition Community Center became the first of its kind in the United States when it opened in 2014. The facility allows high school students to compete in the field of robotics and many students who go on to study at Kettering University have been involved in the competition in previous years.
