关于 Iona College

Located in New Rochelle, around 20 miles from Manhattan in New York, Iona College is a private, coeducational liberal arts institution that was founded by the Congregation of Christian Brothers religious community in 1940.

Just a few years after its establishment during the Second World War the college was almost closed due to lack of demand for places, with just three members of the first class of students receiving bachelor’s degrees in 1944. However, Iona College’s student enrolment gradually started to increase and in 1950, 300 students graduated.

Today the university is home to around 4,000 students, studying one of the 45 majors, 35 minors, or 30 graduate programs available. There are three major academic schools – the School of Arts and Science, the Hagan School of Business and the Rockland Graduate Center – all of which are divided into several smaller and departments.

Most courses are four years long, although there are also five-year dual degree programs.

The 45-acre Iona College campus has several academic buildings in addition to extensive student housing options such as Rice Hall, East Hall, Conese and South Hall, Loftus Hall, and Eastchester Apartments, most which are divided into suites and dormitories.

There are over 80 clubs, fraternities and sororities on campus and the college sports teams, known as the Iona Gaels, are a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and compete in 21 NCAA Division I programs.

Notable former students include MASH actor Bud Cort, celebrity biographer Donald Spoto, former Deutsche Bank CFO Anthony Di Iorio, and New York State Senator John Bonacic.
