Georgia Gwinnett College

Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) is a baby when it comes to educational institutions, having been founded in 2006. It is the nation’s first four-year public college founded in the 21st century.

The college is ideally situated in Lawrenceville where students can explore local theatres, cheer on their favourite teams at Cool Ray Field or catch a show at the Infinite Energy Arena. Meanwhile, a short drive gets you to the Mall of Georgia.

At the beginning, there were just 118 students. After rapid expansion, the college now has over 12,000 students.

GGC has full accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and it received this accreditation in record time. Moreover, since 2009, the college has been fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.

There are over 42 subjects, with degrees in biology, business administration, chemistry, criminology, early childhood education, english, exercise science, history, information technology, mathematics, nursing, political science, psychology and special education. 

Nicknamed the Grizzlies, athletic teams at Georgia Gwinnett are part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. Men's sports include baseball, soccer and tennis; while women's sports include soccer, softball and tennis. In 2014, both the men and women's tennis teams won the NAIA national championship in their first year, while the baseball team advanced to the NAIA World Series.

There are a large number of student-founded clubs in biology, business, psychology, student government and many more. These organisations let students hone their leadership and teamwork skills, whilst engaging in university life.
