关于 Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising-Los Angeles
The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) is a fashion-oriented university with four locations in the state of California. Its main campus is in Los Angeles, home to Hollywood and celebrity culture. The campus has served as the location for the Project Runway television show.
Over 25 Bachelor’s are offered at FIDM in the fields of fashion, entertainment, beauty, interior design, business management and graphic design.
Students have the opportunity to take part in internships with top fashion industry names such as Lacoste and GUESS, as well as exciting costuming opportunities. On one previous project, students worked with costume designers for The Hunger Games movies. The FIDM faculty includes several industry professionals.
The campus is home to the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising Museum, which houses a permanent collection including 1800s fashion, early Hollywood costumes and designs from current television series and films.
The Los Angeles campus is at the heart of the city’s shopping and entertainment district. It is located on Grand Avenue, the same address at the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Students are housed in apartment blocks close to FIDM.
FIDM’s other campuses are located in San Diego, San Francisco and Orange County.
FIDM was opened by Tonian Hohberg in 1969 to answer Los Angeles’ need for talented and creative individuals. Celebrities and fashion labels had gravitated around Hollywood since the early days of cinema, yet a school for fashionistas and designers did not exist. FIDM was the first fashion institute on the West Coast.
