Denison University, set up in 1831, is based in Ohio. Its undergraduate programmes include a general curriculum, a major and elective requirements.
You can choose from a long list of majors including anthropology and sociology, Arabic, astronomy, chemistry, cinema, classical studies, communication, dance, data analytics, economics, Japanese, Portuguese, neuroscience, religion, theatre and writing.
Beyond your academic engagements, you will be able to join any of the over 175 student organisations. Whether they are based on your subject of interest, as are the Association of Women in Mathematics, Biological Society, Economics Club, University Art Collective, Pre-Veterinary Club, Geological Society, or are cross-cultural, such as the Asian American Association, German Culture Society, Middle Eastern Cultural Organisation. Students can also engage in student media and journalism or become a member of a performance club, such as the Independent Theatre Association, University Drummin’ Ensemble, Tehillah gospel club, Ballet club, or help with the sound and lights of events. Beyond these, special interest groups include games, investment group, karaoke club, table tennis club, and social justice and advocacy organisations are concerned with the stigma on mental health, feminism, socialism and environmentalism.
You can also go to events organised by the Film Society, join the jazz ensemble, attend artists’ talks, or go to the university’s cinema, the Burke Hall of Music & Art, Ace Morgan Theatre, the Doane Dance Building, Denison Museum or the Burton Hall.
Famous alumni include actress Jennifer Garner, businessman Michael Eisner, former Senator Richard Lugar, US Congresswoman Sue W. Kelly, philosopher Richard Brandt.
