关于 Southeastern Louisiana University
Founded in 1925, Southeastern Louisiana University is a state funded institution with a focus on the liberal arts. The university has its main campus in the city of Hammond, 45 miles east of Baton Rouge.
Study at Southeastern in split into five colleges; Arts & Humanities, Business, Education, Nursing & Health Sciences, and Science & Technology. As well as the Hammond location, courses are taught at the satellite locations of Baton Rouge Nursing Centre, Livingston Parish Literacy & Technology Centre, and the St. Tammany Centre for local students.
Those wishing to study abroad when studying at Southeastern will be able to travel to a wide variety of higher learning institutions across the globe. In past years students have taken such courses as Criminal Justice in London, Tropical Ecology in Costa Rica, and Political Science in Salzburg.
The Business Research Centre on Hammond campus engages students with an economic insight into company decisions, and serves as a data collector for the ACCRA Cost of Living Index.
The Columbia Theatre was first constructed in 1928, and following an extensive reconstruction in 2002 contains an 850 seat performance hall with modern technical facilities. Since 1986 the annual Fanfare festival has been held at Southeastern, a celebration of arts that has in past years included ventriloquists, opera, dance, and film showings at Columbia.
Sports teams at Southeastern are known as the Lions, and compete in the NCAA Division I. Across men’s and women’s teams there a total of 11 different sports programmes, including golf, tennis, and soccer. As well as hosting community and student events, men’s and women’s basketball games are played at the University Centre, which can host up to 8000 spectators.
