An agreement has been signed between the Peruvian Education Ministry and regional governments to upgrade 26 technological colleges into institutes of excellence.

President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski had called for every region to have “at least one state-run technological institute to offer youth vocational guidance and help them choose a job with prospects in their region”, whether in agriculture, engineering, mining or industry.

The institutes will incorporate cutting-edge infrastructure and equipment, academic exchange networks and training spaces specifically designed to help students develop their creativity and entrepreneurial skills. The new model of institute is initially being launched in the central highlands region of Peru, with a view to rolling them out across the country.
