Computer game comes to aid of dying tongue

Linguistics staff at Manchester University are trying to save Tofa, a language spoken by just 40 ageing Siberian reindeer hunters, by translating computer games into it.

Tofa could be lost in 50 years, said Gregory Anderson of the linguistics department. "We are trying to come up with something that is a language-learning game to encourage them to learn the language, or it will die with the elders in the community."
