About University of the North, Colombia
University of the North, Colombia was founded in 1966, in Barranquilla, Colombia. The university emerged as a response to the growing need for higher education in the Caribbean region of the country. A group of entrepreneurs, led by Karl C. Parrish, established UNINORTE with the goal of providing quality education and contributing to the region's development.
In its early years, the university focused on offering programmes in engineering and business administration. The university quickly gained recognition and began to attract students from Barranquilla and other parts of the country seeking high-quality education.
Over the years, the university introduced new undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across various fields of study, broadening its academic offerings. The university offers courses in engineering, administrative sciences, humanities and social sciences, health sciences, legal sciences and basic sciences.
University of the North has established research centres and institutes that focus on various disciplines, including health sciences, social sciences, engineering, and technology.
