The Strathclyde Marine Institute at the University of Strathclyde will study the performance of offshore energy technology plus the impact of pollution and shipping on the marine environment, and aims to improve the efficiency and safety of marine transport systems. Anne Glover, Scotland's chief scientific adviser, said the institute "underlines the fact that Scotland's world-leading science, technology and engineering expertise in this sector has the potential to reap huge rewards while also safeguarding marine resources for future generations".
