About Gori State Teaching University
Gori State Teaching University was founded in 2007 following the merger of Gori State University and Tskhinvali State University. It was originally established as Gori Teaching University but was renamed in 2012.
The university is located in Gori, a city in eastern Georgia. Gori is the regional capital of Shida Kartli and is the country’s fifth most populous city.
There are three faculties within the university: the faculty of humanities, the faculty of education, exact and natural sciences, and the faculty of social sciences, business and law. Each faculty offers students a variety of both undergraduate and graduate degree programmes.
The university also has a vocational education centre where students can study a range of vocational courses including accounting and office management.
Outside of classes, students can join a range of sports teams including football, basketball, volleyball and boxing. There are also a range of music and theatre clubs that students can join.
