About University of Port Harcourt
Founded in 1975 to serve Rivers State, the University of Port Harcourt attained full university status in 1977 and grew to become one of the largest universities in Nigeria.
Faculties include health sciences, humanities, social sciences, laboratory technology, education, engineering, management sciences, agriculture, pharmaceutical sciences, dentistry, law, continuing educaiton as well as a business school. These faculties are divided between three campuses: Choba, Delta and Abuja.
Notable research centres include those devoted to Malaria Research and Phytomedicine (CMRAP), which publishes its own journal, Geotechnical and Coastal Energy Research, and Marine Pollution Monitoring and Seafood Safety.
