About Kamdhenu University, Gandhinagar, Gujarat
Founded in 2009 by the Kamdhenu University Act of the Government of Gujarat, Kamdhenu University is an agricultural university located at Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India.
Kamdhenu University offers programmes at undergraduate, postgraduate and diploma levels in the fields of veterinary sciences, animal husbandry, and dairy.
The university is the principal agency for research activities to be carried out in veterinary, animal husbandry, dairy, fisheries and allied sciences throughout the state of Gujarat.
Throughout study, students are encouraged to take up placements within the industry. Not only do students get hands-on experience, they are also given training. The university conducts seminars, group discussions and mock interviews as part of their career guidance and development. There’s also an information centre to make students aware of job opportunities.
Kamdhenu University is a residential institution, so staying in a hostel on campus is compulsory. There’s separate accommodation for men and women and there are common rooms with a television and leisure facilities.
The university encourages students to get involved in physical education, sports, cultural and adventurous activities, like rock climbing and paragliding.
Kamdhenu University, along with all the colleges and polytechnics in the area, have annual celebrations where students can get together. One example is World Yoga Day on 21 June. On this day, all staff and students get together as recommended by the Ministry of AAYUSH, New Delhi.
Kamdhenu University offers a small number of scholarships designed to recognise and award academic excellence.
