About International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad
The International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad was established in 1998. In 2001 it was granted the status of a Deemed University by the Indian Department of Higher Education. The institute is one of 20 Indian Institutes of Information Technology under the same model.
As its name suggests, the institute is located in Hyderabad, a city in southern India.
Courses of study are offered to students in four main departments: computer applications and information technology, engineering and architecture, sciences, and arts, humanities and social sciences. Each department offers a range of both undergraduate and graduate degree programmes.
There are also dual degree programmes available for students wishing to acquire two degrees: B Tech (Hons) and an MS by Research. These programmes are five-year integrated courses offered to undergraduate students at the end of third year.
The PG Student Status Programme was set up to encourage professionals in the Hyderabad area to study on a part time basis. The programme allows students to take up to two individual courses each semester, without needing to enrol in a degree programme.
The university is structured around research centres and laboratories rather than schools and departments. These centres include the Applied Artificial Intelligence Research Centre, the Centre for Security, Theory and Algorithms, and the Earthquake Engineering Research Centre.
