About Uzbekistan State University of World Languages

Uzbekistan State University of World Languages is a public university located in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. The university was established in 1992 through the merger of two higher institutes: Tashkent Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages and the Russian Language and Literature Institute.

The university offers bachelors and master degrees in language-related majors through its faculties: Roman and German philology, journalism, translation studies, Russian philology and three English faculties.

Uzbekistan State University of World Languages is also the main institution in Uzbekistan for training of ESL teachers, designing language textbooks, updating new teaching methods, and preparing teaching curriculums in Uzbekistan. The university also trains interpreters and operates its own printing service.

Uzbekistan State World Languages University has established a lyceum with three distinct faculties: foreign languages, humanities and natural sciences. The lyceum enrolls students who have completed middle school and focuses on generating graduates with knowledge in language and humanitarian subjects.

The university has academic partnerships with numerous linguistic and cultural centres in the world including the Perudja University (Italy), Beijing Chinese language and Culture Institute, Seoul Chun Ang University, KOICA, Delhi University (India), JICA International Corporation (Japan), and the British Council in Uzbekistan.
