About Universiti Kuala Lumpur
Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) is a multi-campus technical university with its main campus in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Its 11 other campuses are spread throughout Malaysia, in Gombak, Cheras, Bangi, Kajang, Sepang, Taboh Naning, Pasir Gudang, Ipoh, Lumut and Kulim.
Wholly owned by Majlis Amanah Rakyat, a Malaysian government agency formed to train Malaysians in business and industry, Universiti Kuala Lumpur was formed in 2002.
Today, the university has over 30,000 students spread across 139 programmes.
Students with SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia) or O-level equivalent can apply to the diploma programmes at the university. Those with a diploma may apply for entry into the degree programmes with credit transfer.
The Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysia France Institute was incorporated into the university in 1995 as a collaboration between Malaysia and France. Similar agreements with the British and Spanish governments have also led to the formation of British, Spanish and Italian institutes within the university.
There are other institutes in specialisations such as medical science technology, information technology, aviation technology, chemical and bioengineering technology, marine engineering technology, medicine, design, industrial technology and business.
The Institute of Postgraduate Studies was formed in 2005.
The university offers flexible weekend and evening classes degree programmes for working adults.
The Huffas Programme helps students to memorise the Koran through 10 hours of additional learning. Those students then sit an exam. It aims to cater to the values of Islam, to produce Muslim professionals.
The university motto is "Where Knowledge is Applied and Dreams Realised".
