Gyeongsang Province and equipping students with the manners, wisdom, creativity and academic competence they need to succeed. As a pioneer takes on new tasks and creates things that do not presently exist, GNU contributes to human happiness through the preparation of such pioneers who can lead the world, even from the small South Gyeongsang city of Jinju.

We also seek to benefit the wider world through education, research, volunteer activities, and cooperation with industry.

GNU itself is a living history of the development of higher education in Korea. Opening with provincial support as Jinju Agricultural College, GNU became a national institution with support from the central government before becoming a four-year comprehensive university. In the 71 years since its establishment, GNU has been an important platform for cultivation of 140,000 talented students. In addition, we have been proving our abilities to the world in the fields of life science, aerospace & mechanical systems, and nano & advanced materials, and playing a significant part in history, culture and the arts in the city of Jinju. Through its human, material, and intellectual resources, GNU is integral to regional development and innovation.

Through financial support from the central government, GNU has been improving its teaching, research, and study conditions and bolstering its scholarships and employment opportunities for students. We are also working our way to the top ranks of national universities with our integration with Gyeongnam National University of Science and Technology. Through collaboration with public corporations in Jinju’s Gyeongnam Inno-City, we are working hard to develop local industry and improve quality job opportunities for our graduates. Moreover, our partnerships continue with local businesses for the development of the Aviation Industry Complex (Jinju & Sacheon), the Machinery Industry Complex (Changwon), the Nano Convergence Materials Industry Complex (Milyang), the Ocean Plant Industry Complex (Tongyeong), and the Petrochemical Industry Complex (Yeosu).
