Clive Christie writes that "after the second world war Anti-Americanism... migrated from the right to the left" ("US hate: a designer prejudice for our time", THES , January 18).
Yet conservative British commentators continue to bemoan American moral and political influences on British society. Certain British newspapers also decry American influence on the Northern Ireland peace process. Anti-Americanism is alive and well on the right, where its proponents are as capable of "sloppy thinking" as those on the left.
