May I correct the misleading impression given of the accommodation position for new students at the University of Leicester ("Room at the inn for freshers", THES , September 28)?
Far from being "unable to cope", the university has placed all but 35 of the record intake of 4,000 in permanent accommodation. This small group, all late entrants, is in specially allocated rooms and will take up dedicated places later this month.
