Richard Green adds further tongue-in-cheek RAE categories to Laurie Taylor's list of "research-inactive" staff. But there is a serious point. The arbitrary lower limit of four publications is demoralising for staff who, like myself, are active - three articles and a book in the last period - but have neither time nor resource to hurdle the limit.
Still, I console myself that Einstein would never have qualified either.
