With regard to Christine Cheesman's letter (THES, January 17), I would agree that the Government should be prepared to take responsibility for the cost of re-organisation.
The proposals to change the Teachers Superannuation Scheme have arisen, in part, because the Government has not been prepared to do that. To simply set up a new pension scheme as a solution is likely to result in a deterioration of pension benefits and would not be regarded as fair treatment by anyone.
