Haliç University

Haliç University was established by the Foundation for Children with Leukaemia in 1998. The university is committed to serving the public through educational services and scientific research. It prepares its students for work in our rapidly globalising world by ensuring that they develop the relevant skills and knowledge.

There are six academic faculties offered at the university, which include architecture, engineering, fine arts, management, medicine, and science and literature. The university offers both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The university also has three schools specialising in health sciences, nursing, and physical education and sports. All classes are taught at an 8:4 proportion of students per instructor to enrich the quality of teaching and improve the concentration and performance of students.

Outside of the classroom there are more than 30 artistic, educational and sports clubs available for students to join. These include computer engineering club, mountaineering unit, and science fiction and fantastic literature club. Throughout the year many of the student clubs compete at a national and international level, successfully returning with awards and trophies.

The university is located in Istanbul, the most populous city in Turkey and the former capital of both the Byzantine Empire and the Ottoman Empire. The city has preserved the cultural influences of these empires and many more in its historic centre, which is partially listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Istanbul’s old walled city is situated on a triangular peninsula between Europe and Asia, making it a transcontinental city. In their free time students can enjoy soaking up the colourful tile work and dramatic architecture of the charming city.
