I was surprised at the letter headed "Amazing dancing profs". Surely the writer and subeditor know that Christopher Bannerman has the chair in dance at Middlesex University, and is internationally respected as such.
Anyone lucky enough to attend his inaugural professorial lecture last June witnessed an extraordinarily astute analysis of the contemporary dance scene, punctuated by four dances: a performance by a dancer from the Royal Ballet; a very moving dance choreographed at Middlesex by a woman in a wheelchair and a young man; a contemporary Asian/British dance; and a performance by Bannerman himself. If all professors had such courage, talent, energy and intellectual power, we would be a richer nation.
