关于 University of South Florida-St Petersburg
Commonly known as USF St. Pete, University of South Florida-St Petersburg was first opened in 1965 and while it continues to operate under the USF umbrella, it is also an academically separate institution. The city itself is known for its coastal location in the Tampa Bay Area, and a dazzling climate that has led to its nickname as the Sunshine City.
At bachelor’s level there are 35 degree programmes offered across the three colleges of Arts & Sciences, Business, and Education. There are also 17 master’s programmes available either on-campus or through online study, and five graduate certificates in fields as varying from Geospatial Science to Food Writing and Photography.
Also on campus is the Bishop Centre for Ethical Leadership, which offers both advice and teaching on maintaining a clear moral stance in the professional sphere, and provides an internship at the Anytown youth leadership and diversity education programme in the local area.
An centre of study at USF St. Pete is the Poynter Memorial Library, named for the American publish magnate and alumni who made sizeable donations towards the journalism programme. The library itself has a physical volume collection of over 200,000, and a digital library of over a million documents.
As part of USF athletics teams are known as the Bulls, and compete in the NCAA Division I. In total there are eight men’s sports programmes and nine women’s, including a sailing team at USF St. Pete which is one of the most highly ranked in the nation.
Construction on the first residential buildings at USF St. Pete began in 2005, and there are now more than 600 residential students enrolled.
