关于 Clark Atlanta University
Clark Atlanta University is a historically black university, originally founded as Atlanta University in 1865, before merging with Clark College to become the modern institution in 1988. Atalanta is the most populated city in the Southern state of Georgia, and is a commercial and cultural hub of America that is also home to Hartsfield-Jackson International, the world’s busiest airport.
CAU is split into four schools; Arts & Science, Business, Education, and Social Work, as well as a dedicated graduate department. The Centre for Academic and Student Success can assist students in deciding their major, as well as advise them on career opportunities in their chosen field.
There are six research facilities offering students at all levels the opportunity to engage with sponsored programmes and collaboration with outside industries. Opened in 2006, the Centre for Functional Nanoscale Materials trains scientists in this groundbreaking field that influences everything from robotics to medicinal care, and is working in collaboration with research partners such as Cornell University and iThemba Labs in South Africa. The Environmental Justice Resource Centre works with affected communities, pressure groups, and fellow historically black institutions in tackling those affected by climate change and unethical corporate activities in this area.
Sports teams at CAU compete under the athletic title of ‘Panthers’, and compete in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Varsity matches will often be accompanied by the popular Mighty Marching Panther Band.
Civil rights activists Ralph Abernathy and Jo Ann Robinson, television host Jacque Reid, and model Eva Marcille have all attended Clark Atlanta.
A noted publication of Clark Atlanta is Phylon, a biannual research compilation founded by W.E.B Du Bois in 1940, that studies race relations in the U.S.
