An old girl of Girton College, Cambridge, has revealed the college's hidden war crime record -- eating swan as meat became scarcer. Diana Lorch, who was in the college in the 1940s, describes in CAM magazine how she tucked into roast swan, swan soup and swan rissoles. No doubt the women were hissing with rage that swan-eating was the prerogative of the monarch, the Dyers, the Vintners -- and several Cambridge colleges excluding Girton.
