The University of Bristol came top for chemistry, with the University of Cambridge coming second

In the chemistry unit of assessment, the University of Bristol came top, improving on its 2014 ranking of fourth with a GPA of 3.74, up from 3.35. The institution that had ranked first in 2014 – the University of Cambridge – slipped to second this time despite improving its own GPA from 3.54 to 3.72. 

The University of York improved from its position of 17th in 2014 to ninth this time, with a GPA of 3.6. The University of Warwick, which was sixth in 2014, was ranked 13th this time, despite its GPA improving from 3.3 to 3.51.

At a national level the Chemistry UoA has a GPA of 3.43, with 49 per cent of its submission rated 4*. 1502.02 FTE staff were submitted to this UoA.
